Ola Ali

PhD Candidate 

I am researching the dynamics of migrant networks to identify the driving factors of migration and examine its impact on the social, economic and political structures of both origin and destination countries. I hold a bachelor’s degree in physics from Cairo University and a master’s degree in the physics of complex systems from the Institute for Cross-Disciplinary Physics and Complex Systems, in Spain and I am currently a PhD student at Vienna University of Technology and the Complexity Science Hub.

2024

  • I participated in the 2024 Infra4NextGen hackathon and my team was awarded Best Story! 

  • I was part of the CSH Opportunity in Crisis – Empowering Ukrainian Refugees to Rebuild the Ukrainian Economy project.  My role was to conduct data analysis and help with a feasibility study regarding the integration of Ukrainian refugees in Austria's labour market. Find out more here.

  • I am a member of the PhD representatives at the Complexity Science Hub. 

  • I am part of the organization team of the ASCII-CSH Women’s Network.

2023

  • I was part of the CSH team organizing the complexity science meets digital humanism workshop with the aim to raise awareness about the importance of human-centric complex systems science and digital humanism and promote their adoption in technology and system design. Find out more here.

2019 -2023

  • I was the organizational development manager at ADSERO - Ragy Soliman & Partners, Egypt. I managed planning and implementation of office functions and compliance standards, I also assist with internal firm management and setting strategies for business development and firm internal policies.
